Redis Now Available on GCP and AWS

We’re excited to announce Redis is now available in GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and AWS (Amazon Web Services)! While we’ve had Redis available on the Rackspace platform for a while now, we’re constantly hard at work to offer our products on a broad variety of cloud platforms.

Out of the gate, you get 3 nodes + 3 sentinel nodes per instance, HA with 2 failovers, premium support, plus additional plan sizes.

Spinning up a Redis Instance

Just like all of the other fantastic databases we offer at ObjectRocket, spinning up an instance of Redis is easy and painless. In order to spin up a Redis instance you’ll have to go through some quick steps filling out information, but we’ll do most of the heavy lifting for you in the background.

Step 1: Log in to the ObjectRocket UI

Log in to Mission Control. If you do not already have an ObjectRocket account, you can sign up by clicking on the Sign Up link.

Step 2: Select Service, Region, and Provider

First, you’ll have to provide a name for your instance and then select Redis as your service. Afterwards, you can choose the cloud provider, version (currently only 4.0.14 is available but Redis 5 support is coming soon!), and region.

Note: Rackspace utilizes the previous interface to spin up an instance and the rest of the steps do not apply to it.

Step 3: Configure Redis

Second, you’ll be choosing the RAM capacity using our slider. Currently we have the following sizes available:

  • 512MB
  • 1GB
  • 1.5GB
  • 2GB
  • 2.5GB
  • 3GB
  • 5GB
  • 10GB
  • 20GB

Step 4: Whitelist IPs

Next, you’ll want to whitelist IPs for security. You can allow any IP if you wish and skip this step, but it’s highly recommended that you utilize the whitelist.

Step 5: Create Instance

Once you’ve completed all that, you’re now ready to create the instance, just go ahead and click on the create instance button! If there are any issues with these steps or if you have any questions at all, please contact us or chat on our website and we’ll gladly help you out! We want to make sure your experience is nothing less than awesome.

Future of Redis

We’re always constantly adding new features and bolstering our current ones. Here’s a sneak peak at what is to come for Redis in the future!

  • More regions in AWS, GCP
  • Redis on Microsoft Azure
  • Module support
  • Redis 5
  • Redis Non-HA, a more affordable Redis instance.

If there’s anything else you’d like to see supported please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
